Dané Vonk is a spatial artist who focuses on observations, movements and daily life. In 2018 she graduated from the Design Academy in Eindhoven, Public Private. She is inspired by kinetic and social forms of art.
Since she was little, she has always felt the urge to create, to tinker and play around with ‘things’ and materials. This playful way of looking at life and making has always persisted. This is what immediately sparks interest when looking at her work.
“It’s very much about looking. I think I really show my gaze through the works I make.”
Dané links aesthetics like beauty, shadow, light and distortion with elements of movement, daily life phenomena and activities, experimentation and play.
“I love to look at busy spots where lots of movement takes place, such as train stations... people rushing, cycling, walking by. Movement and the everyday are very inspiring and humorous to me. I extract funny moments from it that I find interesting to watch.”
Dané works in an intuitive and experimental manner. Next to experimentation, interaction is an essential element of her art. She likes to make people search and look a bit longer... because you might just be able to see new things, something beyond that beautiful image.
“I want to let the viewer play with the artwork and start looking.”
