Margherita Soldati is an artist with Italian roots who is based in Amsterdam. Soldati studied Industrial Design in Italy and later graduated at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in the summer of 2018. Ever since her graduation, her works have been widely exhibited and she teaches textile design at the DIY Textile School.
Through her work you clearly see these two different backgrounds and approaches to art, one where form follows function and one where art comes from the heart. Between these two Soldati builds bridges, with the element of surprise and possible beneficiality to people, through working with tactility and the sense of touch. Textures, patterns and material research are key elements for her art. The artworks make sense in the end, when people use it. To Soldati, tactility is a medium to communicate, for she sees it as an inclusive type of art - for everybody.
